ISLAMIC CITY:
Thursday, the federal government denied that it was blocking Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), from seeing his lawyers and family.

The government sent a response to the Supreme Court that included pictures of Khan talking with his lawyers in prison.

To back up its position, the government also gave a list of people who have met Khan, which disproved the idea that he is being held alone.

In the past, the former prime minister told the highest court that he couldn’t get to his lawyers. The government said that if needed, a committee could be set up to check these claims. Officials also said that Khan has been given all the tools he needs in jail, such as books, an air cooler, and a TV.

A document from March 28 made the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for setting up talks with the convicted former prime minister official.

The SOPs say that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Barrister Umair Ahmad Khan Niazi, three leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, will be in charge of planning trips to the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Following the rules, Imran was to have two different meetings with his family and lawyers on Tuesday. On Thursday, he was to have only one meeting with his “lawyers/friends.”

Visitors who want to meet Imran must make arrangements with the jail staff through the chosen focal persons. These people will give the visitor list, which includes two people per focal person, one day before the meeting, as long as the six-person limit is followed.

If you remember, on March 12, the Punjab government banned visitors from Adiala Jail for two weeks because of security worries based on intelligence reports.

Leaders of the PTI criticized the ban and said it was an intentional attempt to stop them from meeting with Imran Khan, who is currently being held at the facility.
