One of the detained PTI leaders, Sanam Javed Khan, spoke to reporters after a court appearance in LAHORE and addressed allegations of violence within the prison.

Sanam flatly rejected allegations of mistreatment, offering as justification that they had committed no infraction and hence deserved no punishment.

“Why would there be any abuse when we haven’t done anything [wrong],” she said. Someone else on the crew chimed up, “What more abuse can there be than keeping us innocent women in jail?”

Aliyah Hamza, another PTI member, questioned the justification for the violent entry into their homes and voiced her worries.

“Don’t you think it’s reprehensible how they barged into our home?” Is it essential to make us a target of political revenge?” she questioned, suggesting that if there were problems with our social media accounts, such laws may be used against us.

This comes days after former prime minister Imran Khan claimed that his female party members and supporters who were jailed in the wake of the May 9 riots had been subjected to abuse, including “rape.”

Meanwhile, the Lahore Police Department has begun a campaign to combat offensive and immoral online comments about its officers.

Authorities have contacted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in an effort to identify and hunt down the people responsible for insulting posts on social media.

Accounts using false identities will be investigated, and their IP addresses will be exposed, they said.

Accounts that are used for trolling and are managed from outside the United States will also be disabled.
