To reach the $80 billion export objective necessary to operate in Pakistan, Caretaker Minister for Commerce and Industries Dr. Gohar Ejaz has advised exporters to shift their focus to value-added items in LAHORE.
On Saturday, the minister told the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTAMA) that the country needs new reforms and $80 billion within 90 days. The planned programme to expand exports to $80 billion will be completed within the 90-day time limit, he stressed.
Dr. Ejaz also reassured the organisation that trade and investment officers posted at the ministry’s numerous abroad missions would provide substantial support.
He insisted that a tracking and tracing system will be used to bring the remaining businesses into compliance with GST.
The minister has promised to increase exports to $80 billion.
The minister strongly suggested that all exporters aim for the $80 billion in exports for strategic goods. If exports don’t hit our goal, the country will continue to struggle. It’s no great thing that we’re exporting items worth $80 billion. Through regional trade, we can boost our exports, he said.
At the beginning of the month, Ejaz made a commitment to revitalise Pakistan’s commercial and industrial sectors and increase exports to the lofty sum of $80 billion.
Ejaz stated, at a briefing, that he was determined to face complexities head-on in order to deal with impending business sector challenges. He vowed to quickly guide state-run businesses towards profitability in the interest of economic growth.
