The country’s weather office said that on Thursday, the mercury level reached a record-high 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) in Sindh’s Jacobabad district. This was the hottest temperature ever recorded this year.

The head of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Sardar Sarfraz Ahmad, told Anadolu that the area was still the hottest place in the world, with a temperature of 50C.

The next day it was 49.7C (121.47F) in Larkana, 49.5C (121.1F) in Dadu, and 49.3C (120.74) in Khairpur.

Pakistan is currently in the middle of a very hot spell that is only going to get worse over the next few days. Ahmad said that the heat wave will probably last until the first week of June.

Ahmed says that the warmest temperature ever recorded in Pakistan was 54C (129.2F), which was recorded in the coastal town of Turbat on May 28, 2017.
