An audit of Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority and Pakistan. International Airline has been completed by aviation experts from the United Kingdom.

The 12-day visit by a British aviation team to strengthen ties with the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and exchange best practises on air safety performance was concluded on Friday, according to a statement from the British High Commission.

The UK Department for Transport provided funding for the team from the UK State Safety Partnership (SSP) to visit. To lay the groundwork for a sustained partnership on safety performance, the team worked closely with the PCAA and the industry.

Due to safety concerns, all airlines that have received PCAA certification are still listed on the UK’s Air Safety List. The SSP team’s assistance won’t directly result in Pakistan being taken off the list, but the programme was created to aid Pakistan’s government in achieving this objective.

Direct flights between the UK and Pakistan are a useful channel for business and people-to-people contacts, according to Andrew Dalgleish, Chargé d’Affaires at the British High Commission, Islamabad.

“The British High Commission is aware of how crucial this is to Pakistani airline businesses. This visit and ongoing assistance demonstrate our commitment to assisting the Pakistani government in achieving this for the good of UK and Pakistani citizens alike.

To remove its name from the Air Safety List, Pakistan must show that it complies with global safety standards. It is a thorough procedure that calls for the submission of evidence, on-site evaluations, and technical hearings.

According to sources, the team for the audit of the PCAA and Pakistan International Airlines arrived in Karachi on Thursday. Capt. Malcolm Rusby is the team leader and the director of the State Safety Partnership Program at UK CAA (PIA).

A second team from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) was anticipated to visit Pakistan in March or April following the audit, according to the sources. They also stated that they anticipated the ban on Pakistani airlines travelling to European nations to be lifted following the audit.
