According to the CEO of Agha Steel Industries, Pakistan contributes only 0.32 percent of global steel production, and its consumption is likewise quite low.

At the Port Qasim factory where ‘Original Green’ was unveiled, CEO Hussain Iqbal Agha indicated that Pakistan would require 11 million tonnes of steel during the next five years. This would be produced using eco-friendly electric arc furnace technology.

Agha predicted that by 2025–2026, the investment phase for the industry’s expansion would begin, and that as a result, consumption would drop by 15% and raw material requirements would drop by 10%.

According to Agha, the company’s newly acquired blast furnace will be running at full capacity in 12–18 months, with the ability to melt 4,500,000 tonnes of steel annually.

Company executives were informed that iron mining had begun, and production had begun on the first export order.
