KARACHI: The South District Court granted bail to the owner of the lion that was found roaming Sharae Faisal in exchange for a Rs200,000 bond.

Shamsul Haq told the Additional District and Sessions judge, “I don’t want the lion, court may handover its custody to anyone it deems fit.”
In the lawsuit brought by the Wildlife Department over the release of the lion on Shahrae Faisal, the court granted bail to five accused, including the animal’s owner.
The defendants must each post a bail bond in the amount of Rs200,000 or face trial.
Shamsul Haq, Obaid, Ghulam Murtaza, Nasir, and others have all been named as suspects.
Haq said, “we do not want the lion; it can be handed over to anyone.” The court has ordered the creation of a turtle and lion preserve.
The court has also ordered that the lion and the turtle be kept at the Karachi Zoo pending a ruling.
The court has ordered the Wildlife agencies to file a report on the incident within 14 days.
