When the museum’s branch in the Arab world opens in the financial hub of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October 2021, the late leader will be the first Pakistani whose wax statue will be on exhibit there.

Benazir served as prime minister twice after a long and grueling political war for the restoration of democracy in the country. After an electoral rally in the garrison city of Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007, she was killed in a terrorist attack.

Benazir’s eldest son, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who was only 19 when his mother passed away, was given a VIP invitation to the Madame Tussauds event in Dubai.

The foreign minister was greeted at the airport by high authorities from the gulf state and the Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi.

Bilawal described his mother as a “symbol of democracy, freedom, and equal rights for women across the world” in his speech at Madame Tussauds.

We feel very much at home in this community and nation. He continued, “We are extremely appreciative that this wax statue has been created in memory of our mother, Benazir Bhutto.”

During his one-day trip, Bilawal will meet with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, to discuss bilateral relations.

An official statement said the trip demonstrated the “solid ties, relations, and bilateral cooperation” between Pakistan and the UAE. Both nations want to see their brotherly ties and economic cooperation grow and flourish.
