LAHORE: Since the “Let’s Colour” initiative began in the district of Kasur, Mustafabad, a once-neglected community, has started to attract public attention.

A paint firm colored different areas of the village as part of the promotion. The public from Lahore and other surrounding cities attended the initiative. The villagers valued the efforts made to bring joy and vibrant festivals to the community.

The significant social project was initiated by a well-known paint and coatings manufacturer in association with the Akhuwat Foundation.

More than 1,000 residences and public areas had their exteriors painted as part of the revolutionary initiative. Over the course of four months, 41 team members and 26 talented Mustafabad painters and muralists worked together in a joint endeavor known as the project. Taken together, they gave Mustafabad a new lease on life.

Since the project emphasized the local culture and customs, it was highly appreciated that local artists were involved.

Due to the high temperatures in Mustafabad, suitable paint was put to the homes to provide weather protection. In addition to providing long-lasting all-weather protection, the exterior emulsion has a technology that efficiently lowers surface temperatures by up to 5°C, which has a positive and noticeable influence on the neighborhood.

Muhammad Riaz, a villager, offered the following feedback on the project: “After the painting and art work, a positive change has emerged among the locals and we are now aware of the importance of cleanliness.” This used to be the most run-down village in our district, but now our streets have a lovely appearance. Our children and female staff are also feeling happy since they can now tell others with pride that they live in Mustafabad, the area’s most attractive village.

Mubbasher Omer, CEO of AkzoNobel, offered his thoughts on the project as well: “We are thrilled to see how ‘Let’s Colour’ is revitalizing more than just walls.” Bright colors add interest and enjoyment to living areas. The change has painted a brighter future for Mustafabad and given the town a newfound sense of pride and hope.
