The Capital Development Authority (CDA) blocked off the PTI Central Secretariat in Sector G-84 of the federal capital on Thursday night for breaking building rules. This is part of the CBD’s campaign to stop illegal building and encroachments.

The illegal buildings at the PTI Secretariat were torn down while a large police presence watched from outside.

In violation of the building codes, an extra floor was also added to the property. The head of the PTI, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, also went to the scene.

During the operation, PTI supporters and police got into a fight. Aamir Mughal, the president of the PTI in Islamabad, was caught during the fight.

The CDA said in a statement that the operation, which was done with the help of the district government, involved heavy machinery-equipped anti-encroachment teams being sent to the site.

It also said that the plot in question was given to a person called Sartaj Ali.

On the other hand, violations of building rules were found, such as the addition of a floor. It was also said that the political group had moved onto the land next to them.

The statement went on to say that over the past few years, the CDA had sent the plot owner several notices and threats. “Notices were sent on November 19, 2020, February 22, 2021, and June 14, 2022. On September 4, 2023, a show-cause notice was sent.” Even though they were warned, they didn’t listen, so on May 10, 2024, the CDA issued a closing order.
