The creative community said that Jinnah House was not the target, but rather Pakistan itself.
members of civil society and the creative community gathered outside Jinnah House Corps Commander House to show their solidarity and strongly condemn the attacks and the arson. Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, a renowned classical vocalist, as well as Shafqat Ali Khan, Maigha, Waris Baig, Amar Baig, Shahid Khan, Moammar Rana, Nayyer Ijaz, Sahar Ali Bagga, and dozens of others, spoke to the press.
The creative class blamed Pakistan rather than Jinnah House for the incident. Members of the arts community and the general public lit candles and expressed regret to Quaid that they had not been able to defend Jinnah House. It was made clear that the artists’ community in Pakistan is very important to them. “If Pakistan exists, we are; if Pakistan does not, we are nothing,” Rana said.
The artists have demanded an investigation into the tragedy and declared May 9 a “black day” in history. However, by remaining calm under fire, the Pakistani soldiers set a remarkable example.
