As the Federal Investigation Agency’s inquiry continued, the court in Lahore ordered the freezing of 22 bank accounts and 10 billion rupees’ worth of land belonging to former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi’s son Rasikh Elahi, who also served as the frontman in the case.

The wife of Moonis Elahi and the frontmen of the Chaudhry brothers, Qaiser Bhatti and Abid Bhatti, had their assets and bank accounts frozen by the court as well.

The court has also ordered the co-accused to forfeit 17,420 kanals of land worth Rs. 10 billion, as well as 22 of their bank accounts, where about Rs. 3.5 billion was transferred.

Money used for corruption, according to sources, was transferred through benami banks and businesses.

According to reports, the Chaudhary family amassed billion-dollar assets through corruption under the previous administration, all of which have since been frozen under the 2010 Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Based on the FIA’s application and convincing evidence, the court froze all the properties and bank accounts. Until the conclusion of the money laundering inquiry against all of the accused, all of these assets and bank accounts will stay frozen.
