NEPAL: Mountaineer Naila Kiani scaled the Annapurna I on Monday, becoming the first Pakistani woman to accomplish this feat.

Kiani accomplished this achievement earlier this morning, according to a tweet from Everest Today.

Kiani became the first Pakistani woman to climb three peaks over 8,000 meters in August of last year.

Despite severe weather between the C2 and C3 points, she ascended Gasherbrum-1, the 11th-highest mountain in the world, at 7:45 this morning.

In July 2022, the banker from Dubai reached the summit of K2, the second-highest mountain in the world. Before that, in 2021, Kiani had scaled Gasherbrum-II, the thirteenth-highest mountain in the world.

She has no prior mountaineering experience and is a mother, wife, and daughter. Naila was one of the first two women to summit one of the world’s most treacherous peaks in her very first attempt.

Samina Baig was the first Pakistani woman to summit K2 in 2022, and the nation of Pakistan enthusiastically hailed her accomplishment. As part of a seven-person local team, the 31-year-old had ascended the 8,611-meter (28,251-foot) peak. Kiani arrived at the summit hours later.
