Imran Khan, leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said on Thursday that a “top intelligence official” was responsible for the past assassination attempts on his life and would be held accountable for any future attempts.

Imran said in a video message released before he left for the federal capital, where he was scheduled to appear in court, that he had notified the Lahore High Court (LHC) that the chief officer, “dirty Harry,” was responsible for the attempts on his life. The bureaucrat, he said, had undermined the work of the JIT investigating the Wazirabad case.

He went on to say that PTI leader Murad Saeed is in danger because of the second assassination attempt on him on March 18 outside the Islamabad judicial complex.

“They say that terrorists are after him [Saeed], but if something happens to him, it will be because of dirty Harry,” he explained.

The ex-prime minister stressed once again that “dirty Harry” and “not terrorist or foreign agencies” would be to blame for his death.

Other than him and those associated with him, I have not received any threats.

Wheelchair-bound Imran explained that he was coming to court “despite” the swelling on his foot because he “respected the courts” and had been asked to appear.

“Unlike those who create propaganda against judges when a verdict does not favor them,” he continued, making a veiled allusion to the current administration.

The PTI leader also encouraged Pakistanis to demonstrate for “one hour in solidarity with the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP)” this coming Saturday.

He then made a veiled reference to the administration, saying, “The mafia is after the CJP, have divided the Supreme Court, and made a mockery of the Constitution.”

He went on to say that the administration was stalling on holding elections for 90 days even though the country was suffering greatly from inflation and high unemployment.

They are going against the Constitution, the CJP, and the Supreme Court because they are afraid of losing elections. Everyone have to come out of their houses on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. to show the chief justice that the nation stands with him, he urged, to safeguard the future of your children and the country.

Imran has also called for four demonstrations to be held in different cities to show support for the Constitutional Justice Party. He said that he will be the rally’s leader in Lahore this coming Saturday, with other events planned for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar.

“Save your country, save your Constitution, save your Supreme Court,” he said.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given Imran one final chance to appear in court in person if he desired pre-arrest bail, emphasising that it cannot bend laws for the PTI head merely because he is a “privileged” person, therefore Imran is on his way to the federal capital to appear before the IHC.
