In connection with the riots on May 9, police teams from Mianwali and Gujranwala traveled to Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Saturday, according to reports out of ISLAMABAD.

A superintendent of police was in charge of the group of six inspectors. The PTI chairman, however, did not cooperate with the police and insisted on being represented by lawyers during the interrogation.

Before this, the former prime minister was questioned by police in Gujranwala about the same incident.

Sources say that over the last 24 hours, five teams investigating the rioting at Adiala Jail have arrived from Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Kasur, Gujranwala, and Mianwali.

The paramilitary Rangers removed Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court in connection with a corruption case, sparking violent protests across the country.

State and military facilities and installations were attacked in cities and towns around the country shortly after the arrest by protesters, who were purportedly PTI leaders, workers, and sympathizers.

The PTI was the target of a huge crackdown by state authorities later on. Key officials and parliamentarians of the previous ruling party held hastily organized press appearances to distance themselves from the party and the incidents as the crackdown escalated, causing the party to collapse like a house of cards.
