In response to Sana, Imran says that she is trying to hide “horror stories.”
The leader of the PTI has said that women have never been harassed and humiliated by the state to the extent that they have under this “fascist govt.”
Within hours of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah’s disclosure that intelligence agencies had intercepted a call in which it became apparent that some people belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were going to stage a fake encounter and rape incident on Saturday night, PTI chairman Imran Khan took to Twitter to accuse the minister of “so obviously” trying to cover up “horror stories.”
The former prime minister replied to the minister’s late-night news conference with a tweet saying, “if there were any doubts about women being mistreated in jails, this press conference from this certified criminal should remove all such doubts.”
Moreover, “women have never been so mistreated and harassed by the state as they have by this fascist gov[ernmen]t when they were exercising their right to protest peacefully,” he said.
Sana conducted a news conference in the small hours of Sunday, claiming that the former governing party had planned to use foreign media to cast responsibility for these crimes on the government and its institutions.
The minister said the two sorts of arrangements were being made in the intercepted call without disclosing the identities of the parties involved or the contents of the conversation.
The objective, he added, was to invade the home of a PTI worker and open fire, causing deaths to prove to the world that Pakistan was committing grave human rights abuses.
The second, the minister said, was to fake a rape and distribute a recording of it to international media to spread the rumors of abuse against the PTI.
The minister explained that he chose to inform the country via television screens at midnight because he believed that the phony encounter and rape plans were going to be carried out on Saturday night.
According to Sanaullah, the objective was to make it seem like intelligence and law enforcement officers were to responsible for a fictitious contact with a PTI worker during a purported raid on the person’s home and a subsequent fake rape.
He blasted Imran, claiming that all of Imran’s stage antics were an attempt to deceive the country. He continued, saying that the PTI leader’s politics had run their course. All those responsible for the events on May 9 will now face consequences.
