Five troops were killed on Saturday in fire fights with terrorists, three in the Zarghoon area of Balochistan and two in Tank, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to reports from RAWALPINDI.

Security forces reacted against an attack on their check station in the Zarghoon area, killing one terrorist and three troops in a “martyrdom operation,” according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s propaganda arm claimed the outpost was set up to “check extortion efforts targeting coal mines in the area.”

The ISPR reported that “troops on the post retaliated readily to the fire raid,” successfully driving back the terrorists.

The names of the three fallen soldiers were released by the military. They were named as Lance Naik Abdul Qadeer, Sepoy Zaheer Ahmed, and Sepoy Mudassir Shaheed.

According to the statement, “a deliberate blocking and sanitization operation has been launched based on the follow-up ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) effort, which has identified a likely hideout of fleeing terrorists in nearby mountains.”

According to officials, “security forces are maintaining pressure to deny terrorists escape from the area,” and the operation is “progressing well.”

In line with the national will, the statement continued, “Security forces remain determined to thwart attempts to sabotage peace, stability, and progress of the province.”

Separately, authorities in Tank, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, undertook an intelligence-based operation due to the rumored presence of terrorists in the area.

The ISPR stated that “intense fire exchange took place between security forces and terrorists, resulting in the killing of 3 x terrorists” when the operation was being carried out.

The terrorists who were slain “remained actively involved in a wide variety of terrorist activities” targeting police and civilians.

However, it was reported that “Naik Muhammad Atiq (age 39), a resident of District Chakwal, and Naik Rajab Ali (age 36), a resident of District Attock, had fought gallantly and embraced Shahadat during the fierce fire exchange.”

The area is being cleaned up to ensure that no terrorists are hiding there.

This week, a soldier was killed in action in the Bajaur district’s Loesam neighborhood. The military’s propaganda arm also reported that one terrorist was shot and killed in the crossfire.

The military has named the sepoy who was killed in action as Shafiq ur Rehman, a 23-year-old native of DI Khan. “Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area,” the ISPR said.
