The Punjab IGP, Dr. Usman Anwar, was given until September 26 by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to appear in court to produce journalist Imran Riaz Khan.
Imran’s father filed a petition with Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti asking for the return of his missing son, who had been missing for several months.

The chief judge opened the hearing by inquiring of IG Anwar on the case’s status.
The IG responded that he needed some time because a meeting of the joint working group was scheduled for the following Friday.
A meeting with the intelligence chief was scheduled for that day, and he said the working group had been constituted in response to the LHC order.
My tolerance for this seems to be being tried. The chief justice stated, “Should this case be tested in another way.” The petitioner’s lawyer Ali Mian Ashfaq asked the court to give the Punjab IG an extra day to care for the injured journalist.
The chief justice has given the IG one more chance to bring the journalist to court, adjourning the case until September 26.
IG Anwar stated during the prior hearing that he had met with the petitioner and his attorney to brief them on the status of the case as per the court’s directive.
According to IG Anwar, the situation with journalist Imran is improving. The petitioner’s attorney also informed the court at that time that a significant turn in the case could occur at any time.
