On Saturday, Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, telephoned Sirajul Haq, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), to notify him of his discussions with the parties in the ruling coalition regarding the present political crisis in the nation.

A JI spokeswoman claims that the premier called Siraj today and wished him a happy Eid al-Fitr. Additionally, the prime minister informed him about the allied parties’ meeting that he has scheduled on April 26.

As the two leaders reviewed the current political climate, the JI leader thanked PM Shehbaz for his Eid greetings. Siraj reportedly informed Shehbaz, “As the prime minister, it is your duty to find a resolution to the political crisis.”

Suo moto should serve the public interest, not personal interests, says the PM.

Shehbaz informed Siraj of his attempts to resolve the political impasse and stated that he is discussing with allies. The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will hold a consultative meeting on April 26 according to the prime minister.

In the meantime, PM Shehbaz called the four provincial governors to wish them a happy Eidul Fitr and to offer his congratulations.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Prof. Sajid Mir, and Shah Owais Noorani were among the party officials he phoned and praised on Eid.

The interim chief ministers of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh, Mohsin Naqvi, Azam Khan, and Syed Murad Ali Shah, were also thanked by the premier over the phone.

In order to wish them a happy Eid, he also called the chairs of the Senate and the National Assembly, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Zahid Akram Durrani.
