On the eve of August 14, Zardari, who is also the co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), sent a statement emphasizing the importance of recognizing Parliament as the true court of the people and promising adherence to the Constitution.

“Today, the leadership and workers of the PPP renew the pledge to make Pakistan a democratic and welfare state, according to the ideology of the Quaid-i-Azam, for which Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had fought,” he declared.

To paraphrase his words, “where humanity is valued, a society free from fear and terror, where there is peace and an atmosphere of patience and tolerance” has always been the goal of the PPP leadership.

The fight against poverty and illiteracy continues. If the population of Pakistan is financially secure, then the country can progress. The former president boasted that we can catch up to the rest of the industrialized world.
