The PTI has submitted their response to the ECP’s contempt case.
Due to Imran’s request, the hearing has been postponed till February 28.

PTI General Secretary Asad Umar (L), Chairman Imran Khan (C) and senior leader Fawad Chaudhry (R)

Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), and other party officials responded to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s show-cause notice on Tuesday in ISLAMABAD (ECP).

Imran, the party’s leader Asad Umar, and Fawad Chaudhry had already faced contempt charges from the ECP for making statements critical of the electoral commission and the chief election commissioner.

Asad Umar, the party’s secretary general, delivered the response to the ECP today.

Imran’s attorney, in the meantime, asked for the session to be adjourned. Imran said in his application that he and Fawad Chaudhry were both running for office in the same constituency.

The PTI head requested that the case be continued after the election and promised to “attempt and appear in person for the next hearing.”

The ECP granted the request and rescheduled the hearing for February 28.

It should be recalled that the ECP declared in January that Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, and other senior party figures Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry would receive arrest warrants that might be released on bond for failing to appear before the commission in a contempt case.
