After Friday prayers, the caretaker government of Punjab has decided to send a negotiation team led by the Commissioner of Lahore Division to Zaman Park.

Mohsin Naqvi, the caretaker chief minister, has issued an order for the swift capture of the wanted criminals.

Protests in Pakistan were marred by damage and violence after the May 9 arrest of Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaf (PTI) head Imran Khan in a graft case.

There are allegedly 30–40 suspects hiding out at the Zaman Park home of former premier Imran Khan, according to the Punjab government.

The government’s 24-hour deadline for the PTI to turn over the suspects passed yesterday. Since then, the area has been sealed off by a large police presence.

The development of legal action against the perpetrators of the incidents on May 9 was discussed at a meeting today presided over by the CM.

In addition to the chief secretary and the inspector general of police, other high state officials from Punjab were present, including Information Minister Amir Mir.

Plans to offer incentives for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the ‘terrorist’ attacks were also approved by the government, but concerns were voiced about the possible illegal facilitation of the individuals designated as suspects in the attack on the Inter-Services Intelligence (IS) headquarters.

The son-in-law of the judge was allegedly implicated in vandalism and arson at a military base.

Judge referred for “illegal and unconstitutional facilitation of terrorists” in assaults on state and military installations was decided upon at the meeting and an official reference will be sent.

The meeting resolved to contest the facilitation of the accused individuals because “facilitation of the suspects is equivalent to the murder of justice,” as was said.

In the meantime, CM Naqvi has mandated strict oversight of the prosecution of the criminals, with daily meetings with the relevant commissioners and RPOs to discuss progress.

The Prime Minister stated that the May 9th attack was a “dark day in the history of Pakistan when terrorism was carried out under a nefarious plan,” and that those responsible for the attack did not deserve any special treatment.

The meeting was also updated on the progress being made to identify and apprehend the suspects through the use of geo-fencing, human intelligence, social media, and NADRA.

It has been reported that there is “irrefutable evidence emerging of telephonic communication” between the perpetrators and the “top leadership” of the PTI.

The meeting was informed that 628 such calls had been detected in Lahore alone.
