The extended application deadline for the ordinary Hajj now stands at April 2nd.
To process Hajj applications, specific banks will maintain regular business hours on Saturdays and Sundays.
ISLAMABAD: According to Express News on Friday, the Regular Hajj Program registration deadline has been extended to Sunday, April 2.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs’ spokesman has stated that specific banks will be open on Saturdays and Sundays to accept Hajj applications.
The chosen banks have requested permission to continue operating from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The deadline to apply for the Sponsorship Hajj Program has been extended till Sunday, April 9, the spokeswoman said.
The inability to receive remittances from Pakistanis living abroad led to the decision to prolong the deadlines.
According to the spokesman, those interested in doing the Hajj may contact the approved banks for more details and processing.
He also said that those who applied for the Sponsorship Hajj Program will be deemed successful without the need of a random lottery.
He advised sending money through wire transfer or telegraphic transfer to the Ministry of Religious Affairs account for applications submitted under the Sponsorship Program.
The representative also stated that for verification and processing of the transferred monies, applicants should get in touch with their closest bank of choice.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has previously ruled out the notion of extending the deadline for submitting applications for the Hajj.
According to APP, the spokesperson, Muhammad Umar Butt, asked the prospective pilgrims to submit their Hajj applications and fees on time.
He stated that the ministry has thus far received 44,621 Hajj applications through approved banks, breaking down the number of applications. Of these, 4,308 applications for the Sponsorship Hajj Program and 40,313 for the Government Hajj Scheme respectively.
