Senators are outraged by the Finance Bill, which was first presented in the National Assembly and is now being tabled in the upper chamber by Dar.
ISLAMABAD: After introducing the Finance Bill 2023-24 in the National Assembly on Friday, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar tabled a copy of it in the Senate as required by Article 73 of the Constitution, which did not go over well with the opposition senators.
Senators from the opposition, primarily from the PTI, resorted to chanting slogans in protest of the Finance Bill.
They kept yelling “budget unacceptable”
In the Senate session presided over by Sadiq Sanjrani, Finance Bill was introduced by Dar.
Due to the disarray in the Senate, Sanjrani has extended the deadline for senators to submit their recommendations on the Finance Bill until June 13. The lower chamber of parliament will receive the proposals for further consideration.
Sanjrani also gave the legislators till June 16 to formally report on the Finance Bill to the Senate’s standing committee.
Senator Maulana Faiz Muhammad recited the Fateha in honor of the soldiers and police officers who had lately become martyrs fighting terrorists.
Because it contains essential fiscal policies and actions that will define the economic landscape of the country, the Finance Bill is of critical importance.

On June 12 at 3pm, the Senate will meet again. The Finance Bill will be the official topic of discussion during the upcoming sitting.
