During the night of Thursday/Friday in Lakki Marwat, the military’s public relations office reported that security forces heroically fought off three separate attacks, killing seven terrorists.

Three troops were reportedly killed in a firefight with terrorists in the Lakki Marwat village and the surrounding area of Amir Kalam and Tajbi Khel, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The first incident occurred when a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle detonated his explosives close to a security post in the town of Lakki Marwat. After the explosion, the troops and the attackers engaged in a hard firefight.

“On night 27/28 Apr 23, Security Forces, while fighting gallantly, repulsed three attacks by terrorists on different locations within a short span of time in Lakki Marwat District,” read an ISPR statement.

It stated, “A motorcycle-borne suicide bomber exploded himself near a security forces post in Lakki Marwat, which was followed by a fierce fire exchange between own troops and terrorists,” adding that four terrorists were killed as a result of the effective engagement by the troops.

The ISPR reports that in two separate confrontations in the Amir Kalam and Tajbi Khel districts, three more terrorists were killed. Musa Khan, the terrorist group’s leader, was among them. Also, “weapons and ammunition were recovered from the seven killed terrorists,” the statement added.

ISPR named the deceased as 40-year-old Naib Subedar Taj Mir from the Nowshera district, 38-year-old Havaldar Zakir Ahmed from the Abbottabad district, and 29-year-old Sepoy Abid Hussain from the Dera Ismail Khan area.

We’re cleaning the area to make sure no more terrorists are hiding there. Such heroic acts by our armed forces only serve to enhance our resolve to defeat terrorism, the ISPR reaffirmed.

The attack took place at the Government Post-Graduate College in Lakki Marwat town, where the army and the Frontier Corps (FC) have been stationed for months, according to locals.

A new group calling itself Tehreek-e-Jihad, Pakistan (TJP), claimed responsibility for the motorbike suicide bombing, stating that one of its members blew himself up near the college’s camp post.

According to the sources, Lakki Marwat District Police Officer Ashfaq Khan was not permitted to view the crime scene after the bomb at the college and was therefore excluded from the inquiry.

Lakki Marwat has called for a public protest due to the increasing number of occurrences in the neighborhood. The town’s Aman Chowk and Kargil Chowk would serve as the starting and ending points for a peaceful protest march.
