On Monday, October 23, in their individual capacities, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will meet with the senior secretary to the prime minister and the secretary of the establishment division to discuss the prime minister’s failure to act on ECP directions to remove the Sheikhupura deputy commissioner.

The ECP has released a statement saying that Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, Sindh member Nisar Ahmed Durrani, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa member Justice (ret.) Ikramullah Khan will be hearing the matter.
In accordance with rule 162 of the Election Act, 2017, the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has applied to be allocated a symbol for the 2018 general elections, according to the statement.
It went on to say that the ECP had ordered the transfer of Sheikhupura Deputy Commissioner Waqar Ali, but that Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr. Touqeer Shah and Establishment Division Secretary Inamullah should explain why they had not done so.
