WASHINGTON:
After Russian officials reported that they shot down drones that were attempting to strike Moscow early on Wednesday, a representative for the United States Department of State stated that the United States does not promote or facilitate assaults inside of Russia.

According to a representative for the State Department, it is up to Ukraine to decide how it would defend itself against the Russian invasion that began in February of the previous year. The spokesperson also added that Russia may put an end to the war at any time by withdrawing from Ukraine.

Since the destruction of two unmanned aircraft over the Kremlin in early May, there has been an upsurge in the number of drone strikes deep within Russia. In the past few months, there has been a noticeable increase in the frequency of drone attacks on the Russian capital.

The United States of America has often stated that it does not endorse strikes within Russia, despite the fact that it has provided Ukraine with a substantial amount of help in the shape of guns and other forms of military equipment in order to repel the Russian invasion.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced early on Wednesday that the country’s air defense systems were successful in destroying three drones that were attempting to attack Moscow.

According to statements made by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on his channel on the messaging app Telegram, a drone struck a building that was under construction in the central district of Moscow early on Wednesday.

According to reports from Russia’s TASS news agency, planes were halted at Moscow airports early on Wednesday morning. The recent activity of Ukrainian drones has resulted in the closure of several major airports in and around the Russian capital, both for incoming and outgoing planes on multiple occasions.

According to the Defense Ministry’s statement on Tuesday, Russia also took down four Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine. There were no casualties reported when Russia fired down two Ukrainian drones that were flying over the Moscow region.

Although Ukraine does not usually comment on who is responsible for strikes on Russian territory, it does appear to have increased the frequency of such raids ever since two drones were shot down while flying over the Kremlin in the beginning of May.

These kinds of attacks have momentarily hampered flying operations and generally caused buildings to sustain minor damage.
