Scattered pre-monsoon rain is forecast to begin falling over the country today, providing some relief from the current hot wave.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, and other cities in the Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), and Punjab regions will expect scattered rains and thunderstorms through June 30.
It’s possible that heavy rain will fall on Sindh, Balochistan, and Southern Punjab between June 26 and June 29.
Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman posted PMD’s warning on Twitter, stating that heavy rain could lead to floods in urban areas and landslides in mountainous regions like Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, G-B, and K-P.
North East Balochistan, including DG Khan, may see flash flooding on June 27.
The minister issued an alert to all relevant agencies and cautioned visitors to be vigilant.
During times of high winds and heavy rains, citizens are asked to remain away from vulnerable infrastructure like electricity poles and waterways. “Thank you,” Rehman wrote in a tweet.
