Pakistan: Independent Senator Faisal Vawda called the “Dubai Leaks” nothing more than a propaganda stunt, saying they were old news in a new package meant to hurt the army chief.
Vawda, who used to be the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), also thought the timing of the report’s release was fishy, especially since Pakistan is trying to get more foreign investment.
During a conversation on a private news channel on Tuesday, Senator Vawda spoke out against the targeted individuals, pointing out that the leaked papers did not contain any names of people connected to the PTI.
He also said that the stolen list had honest people on it, which suggested that there was a bigger reason for the leaks.
Vawda then said that he thought the leaked document had been changed to leave out some people, which made it unfairly show who owned property in Dubai.
Senator Vawda questioned the timing of the leak and pointed out that it happened at the same time that the world was expecting more investments to be made in Pakistan and its friend, Dubai.
He also said that he was worried about the time of the leak because of the problems with law and order in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
